The political landscape in Bihar is heating up following the derogatory remarks made against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother. The ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has called for a state-wide shutdown, or ‘bandh,’ on September 4th to protest these comments. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), along with its coalition partners in the NDA, will be participating in the bandh.
PM Modi recently stated that while he might forgive the RJD and Congress for the insult, the people of Bihar would not. The BJP is formulating an extensive campaign strategy to address this issue. This strategy includes taking the matter to the grassroots level, down to the assembly and district levels, to raise awareness and garner support.
A crucial meeting will be held in Delhi on Wednesday, involving senior BJP leaders from Bihar and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. This meeting is viewed as vital for finalizing the party’s election strategy for the upcoming Bihar assembly elections. It is expected that the meeting will include key figures such as BJP National President JP Nadda, the Bihar BJP President, the Deputy Chief Ministers, Union Ministers, and other prominent party officials. The meeting will likely address organizational matters, political strategies, coordination with the NDA, ground-level feedback, and government performance. In addition, the impact of the opposition’s ‘Voter Rights Yatra’ will be analyzed.
The BJP plans to capitalize on the controversy surrounding the remarks against PM Modi’s mother, taking the issue to the local level. Public demonstrations and protests are planned to highlight the insult and underscore how such behavior could potentially affect the well-being of the state’s women and girls if the current opposition were to come to power.
The BJP is also focusing on the Seemanchal region, with its attention on the 30 seats in the districts of Katihar, Purnia, Araria, and Kishanganj. Preparations for PM Modi’s rally in Purnia on September 15th are also underway, as this visit to Seemanchal is considered crucial and will impact the 30 seats. The rally is expected to be a significant event where PM Modi will announce infrastructure projects and other initiatives, including an airport.
During the meeting, the BJP is also expected to evaluate the effectiveness of Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party, assessing whether it is impacting the NDA’s prospects in the region. The BJP has organized Bihar into 11 blocks for organizational purposes, and PM Modi’s visit schedule is being designed to cover all of them.
