On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched Bihar’s Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana via video conference. The primary objective of the scheme is to foster self-employment and strengthen the livelihoods of women in Bihar. As part of the launch, Rs 10,000 was directly transferred to the bank accounts of 75 lakh women, totaling Rs 7,500 crore. The Prime Minister expressed his pleasure in being part of the initiative to benefit the women of Bihar, emphasizing the scale of the scheme with 75 lakh participants. The Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana is a flagship program of the Bihar government focused on empowering women by enabling them to become self-reliant. The initiative provides financial assistance to one woman from each family in the state, enabling them to pursue self-employment and livelihood activities. The scheme provides an initial grant of Rs. 10,000 to each beneficiary through Direct Benefit Transfer, with the prospect of up to Rs. 2 lakh in further assistance. These funds can be invested in diverse sectors, such as agriculture, animal husbandry, handicrafts, tailoring, weaving, and small-scale businesses. The program integrates community support, with Self Help Groups offering training and guidance. Additionally, Gramin Haat-Bazaars will be established to aid in the marketing and sale of products. The launch of the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana will involve statewide activities across various administrative levels, aiming to reach over 1 crore women.
