The upcoming Bihar assembly elections have brought the issue of Systematic Inspection of Electoral Rolls (SIR) to the forefront, with the opposition leveling several accusations. The Congress party has labeled the process as a form of vote manipulation. Despite these objections, the Election Commission has disclosed that it has not received a single objection from any opposition party. The Election Commission has consistently emphasized the importance of ensuring that no eligible voter is excluded from the final voter list for Bihar and that no ineligible voter is included. The draft voter list for Bihar, released on August 1, provided an opportunity for corrections through claims and objections. However, even after nine days of the designated period, no political party has filed any claims or objections. The revision of the voter list (SIR) in Bihar led to significant disruptions in Parliament. The opposition’s protests hindered the smooth functioning of the monsoon session. The opposition has accused the Election Commission of collaborating with the BJP to manipulate votes through SIR, alleging the removal of numerous names from the voter list. The Election Commission released the draft voter list on August 1, and appealed to political parties and citizens to rectify any omissions by submitting the required documents. Despite this appeal, no political party has formally raised any objections. Leader of the Opposition, Tejashwi Yadav, had previously stated his commitment to preventing vote manipulation in Bihar, vowing to continue raising the issue. However, neither he nor his party has submitted any formal appeals or objections.
