Araria, Bihar, has witnessed a significant improvement in its roads. While this has allowed for faster travel, it has also resulted in a surge in road accidents. Tragically, seven lives have been lost in the past five days. The National Highway sees a high rate of traffic violations, which are contributing to the rise in incidents.
On Saturday, three young men died in an accident near the Simraha overbridge on the Araria-Farbisganj National Highway. Earlier, on Thursday, a 30-year-old man was killed when he was hit by an unidentified truck. The deceased hailed from Khajurbari village.
Accidents have been a recurring problem. On the same Thursday, a 75-year-old man was killed in an accident on the Simraha-Saifganj road. Another incident on June 9th in the Mahlagaon police station area resulted in the deaths of two youths, with three others injured after their vehicle skidded on drying maize.
The recent incident near the Simraha overbridge involved the owner of a biryani shop and two of his employees. Their deaths have brought immense sorrow to their families. National Highways 327E and 77, which pass through the Rani Jung area, have become accident hotspots, claiming lives in the process.
