A brutal case of domestic violence has emerged from Navgachia, Bhagalpur, Bihar, where a man murdered his wife and attempted to hide the crime. The perpetrator, along with his family members, first beat his wife to death and then disposed of her body by dumping it in the Ganga River. The police have arrested the husband and are currently investigating. The incident occurred in the BhabanGama area of Bihpur police station in Navgachia. During questioning, the husband admitted that a domestic dispute led to a physical fight that resulted in his wife’s death. To conceal the murder, he and his family members placed her body in a sack and discarded it in the Ganga River. Police divers recovered the woman’s body from the river and sent it for a post-mortem. The arrested individuals include Gautam Yadav, the husband; Janki Devi, the mother-in-law; and Vasudev Yadav, the father-in-law. The case details were released by Navgachia SP Prerna Kumar. The SP stated that a domestic dispute between the wife and in-laws turned violent, resulting in the woman’s death. The husband and in-laws subsequently dumped the body in the river and fled the scene. The SDPO Omprakash led a police team that arrested the husband from BhabanGama, and the body was recovered based on his information. Three people have been apprehended, and a police search is ongoing for other suspects. According to SP Prerna Kumar, the woman’s father filed a complaint on June 16th, alleging that his daughter was murdered by her husband and in-laws, and her body was missing. A case was registered, and an SIT was established. Within hours, Vasudev Yadav and Janki Devi were arrested, followed by the arrest of Gautam Yadav. To mislead the police, Gautam Yadav spread a false rumor that his wife had committed suicide, informing the deceased woman’s family of the incident. When the family arrived at the scene, the in-laws had already left. The police registered a case of murder for dowry based on a written complaint from the family.
