Minister Krishnanandan Paswan, overseeing the sugarcane industry in Bihar, has directed officials to ensure timely payments for sugarcane and complete the necessary surveys within the stipulated timeframe. He stated that those failing to comply will face severe consequences, including officials and mill management. The minister’s focus also extended to encouraging contributions in the CSR sector to aid local development. A review meeting was convened at the Development Building office on Tuesday, where the minister presided. Discussions included payment statuses, survey progress, departmental initiatives, sugar mill expansion, regional council payments, and the importance of research and innovation within the industry. The review highlighted that sugar mills have disbursed 99.80% of the sugarcane value. Additionally, schemes like the Chief Minister Sugarcane Development Scheme and the Bihar Jaggery Promotion Scheme were assessed to ensure their effective implementation.
