The Bihar government is supporting farmers in cultivating marigold flowers through a special scheme designed to increase their earnings. The Agriculture Department of Bihar has invited online applications for the Marigold Development Scheme, which is intended to help farmers profit from marigold cultivation in a shorter period.
Farmers can benefit from the scheme on a minimum of 0.1 hectares and a maximum of 2 hectares of land. The unit cost for cultivating marigolds is ₹80,000 per hectare, with a 50 percent subsidy provided by the government. Land ownership is a prerequisite for farmers to participate in the marigold cultivation scheme.
Farmers must possess an LPC and updated land receipts to be eligible for the scheme. Those who do not own land can still apply based on an agreement. Applicants whose names are not clearly mentioned in the land ownership or revenue receipts must submit a genealogy along with these documents.
Farmers engaged in marigold cultivation can also take advantage of the freight vehicle scheme. This scheme provides a subsidy to farmers for purchasing freight vehicles to transport their marigold produce to the market. The estimated cost of a freight vehicle is ₹6,50,000, with a subsidy of 50 percent, amounting to ₹3,25,000, or 50 percent of the actual vehicle’s cost, whichever is lower.
Applicants need to submit the vehicle quotation, land documents, and the agreement related to marigold cultivation during the application process. For more detailed information, farmers can contact the Kisan Call Center of the Agriculture Department or visit the nearest agricultural office.
