Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has revealed a major welfare initiative with the announcement of a threefold increase in social security pensions. The hike applies to pensions for widows, the elderly, and people with disabilities, raising the monthly amount from ₹400 to ₹1100.
The increased pension payments will commence in July and will reach the accounts of all beneficiaries by the 10th of each month. This move is anticipated to benefit 10,969,255 individuals across the state. The Chief Minister took to social media to share this news, reinforcing his government’s dedication to the welfare of vulnerable groups.
Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary also welcomed the announcement, recognizing it as a significant step toward supporting those in need. The announcement comes as the state prepares for upcoming elections, where the ruling coalition seeks to highlight its accomplishments.
