In a significant move to bolster its healthcare workforce, the Bihar government is set to begin the process of filling 1800 vacant posts of assistant professors in medical colleges within the next few months, as stated by Health Minister Mangal Pandey. The new policy will also allow government doctors to choose their posting locations. This announcement was made at the distribution of appointment letters to 694 newly appointed senior medical officers and medical officers held at the Urja Auditorium. Key officials, including Pratyay Amrit, the Additional Chief Secretary of the Health Department, were present. Minister Pandey pointed out the recent distribution of appointment letters to 1400 doctors in the last ten days, a milestone in itself. He also reminded medical professionals to serve patients with unwavering commitment, discipline and empathy. Pratyay Amrit, the Additional Chief Secretary of the Health Department, welcomed the newly appointed doctors, reminding them of the importance of empathetic patient care, and referencing a recent incident at PMCH and the need to prevent future occurrences. He lauded the improvement of health infrastructure in the state and congratulated the Health Minister on his extended tenure.
