Preparations for the upcoming assembly elections in Bihar were reviewed in a high-level meeting led by Chief Secretary Amrit Lal Meena. The meeting, held at the main secretariat, included officials from the Bhagalpur and Munger divisions. Key topics discussed included election readiness assessments presented by District Magistrates, Superintendents of Police, and other officials. These reports detailed the condition of polling stations, security measures, voter list updates, and adherence to the Model Code of Conduct.
The Chief Secretary set a goal of achieving zero poll boycott for this election, highlighting the importance of ensuring every eligible voter participates. He emphasized the need for strict vigilance due to the proximity of the elections. Furthermore, he ordered the implementation of vehicle checks at various times across districts and the operationalization of border check posts. Police Superintendents were also mandated to conduct home verifications of all arms holders.
The Chief Electoral Officer, Vinod Singh Gunjial, underscored the need for extensive voter awareness campaigns. He instructed BLOs to ensure the prompt completion and submission of household survey forms. Moreover, he advocated for urban publicity initiatives, including using garbage trucks for public service announcements to enhance voter engagement. Comprehensive campaigns were proposed to boost voter turnout.
DGP Vinay Kumar directed the compilation of a comprehensive list of all criminals, including history-sheeters, and absconders. He instructed for speedy resolution of Arms Act cases. Police stations were directed to maintain a high state of alert during the election, with all SPs instructed to intensify security measures.
