Bihar is witnessing increased activity in anticipation of the upcoming assembly elections. As part of this, the Chief Election Commissioner, accompanied by the two election commissioners, will be visiting Bihar on October 4th and 5th to assess the election preparations. The team will engage with the Chief Electoral Officer and other state authorities to review the election readiness.
A meeting of the observers appointed by the Election Commission will take place in Delhi this Friday, preceding the Chief Election Commissioner’s Bihar visit. This meeting will include all election observers, police, and other officials involved in the election process. Typically, the Election Commission announces election dates following a visit by its full members to a state. Therefore, it’s anticipated that the Bihar election dates could be declared any time after October 5th.
The Election Commission has finalized plans to deploy 470 officers, including 320 IAS and 60 IPS officers, as central observers for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. These observers will also oversee by-elections across eight other states. The meeting at the India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management (IIIDEM) in Dwarka will commence at 10 AM on Friday.
Following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, the Election Commission has released the final voter list. The list includes 14 lakh new voters. Individuals can access their details on the voter list via a link on the commission’s website. For further information regarding the voter list, please visit https://voters.eci.gov.in/.
