The upcoming Bihar assembly elections are witnessing growing unrest within both the NDA and INDIA alliances. While the NDA, led by Nitish Kumar, and the INDIA bloc, spearheaded by Tejashwi Yadav, are projecting confidence, internal squabbles are becoming increasingly visible.
Chirag Paswan, a Union Minister and leader of the LJP (Ram Vilas), has launched a scathing attack on Nitish Kumar’s government, particularly concerning the law and order situation. He has gone so far as to express regret for supporting a government he accuses of failing to control crime. Paswan suggests either administrative collusion or gross negligence. Paswan’s stance is reminiscent of his 2020 strategy, where he contested the elections independently, targeting JDU’s vote share.
In the INDIA alliance, Mukesh Sahani of VIP is openly expressing his displeasure with Tejashwi Yadav and demanding the Deputy Chief Minister post. Sahani’s demand reflects a pattern; in 2020, he demanded seats and the Deputy CM position, eventually joining the NDA when his demands weren’t met.
The political dynamics are further complicated by seat-sharing disputes within both alliances. The upcoming elections will be a test of the alliance’s cohesion and ability to manage internal conflicts effectively.
