As Bihar gears up for its Assembly elections, the Congress has announced a team of 58 observers. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge sanctioned the deployment of these observers, including notable individuals such as Wing Commander Anuma Acharya (Retired), Ali Mehdi, Ashok Chandna, Manoj Yadav, Nadeem Javed, Shoaib Khan, Akhilesh Yadav, and Virendra Yadav. This strategic move aims to strengthen the party’s campaign and enhance its electoral prospects.
During the previous elections, the RJD, a major component of the ‘Mahagathbandhan,’ fielded candidates in 144 constituencies, winning 75. The Bihar Assembly consists of 243 seats.
The Congress contested 70 seats in the last election, securing 19. The CPI (ML) Liberation, another alliance partner, contested 19 seats and secured 12. The elections are likely to take place in October-November.
