The enhanced road infrastructure in Araria, Bihar, has inadvertently fueled a surge in vehicle speeds, coinciding with a grim increase in road accidents. Over a period of five days, seven individuals have tragically lost their lives in these incidents. A recurring issue is the violation of traffic laws, especially by vehicles traversing the National Highway, contributing significantly to the escalating number of accidents.
The Saturday evening incident near the Simraha overbridge on the Araria-Forbisganj National Highway resulted in the deaths of three young men. Earlier in the week, on Thursday, a 30-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run accident involving an unidentified truck. That same day, an elderly 75-year-old man was fatally struck by an unknown vehicle on the Simraha-Saifganj road in the Forbisganj block. Earlier in the month, on June 9th, in the Mahilgaon police station area, two youths lost their lives and three others were injured when their vehicle skidded on maize drying on the road.
The families of those affected by the accidents, including the biryani shop owner and his two staff members who died in Saturday’s incident, are now grappling with profound sorrow. National Highways 327E and 77, which run through the Raniganj area, are witnessing a concerning number of accidents, leading to significant loss of life.
