Dr. Sanjeev, a JDU rebel MLA, expressed his views on the caste census during a digital meeting. He questioned the utility of the caste census in Bihar, suggesting that it lacks a clear purpose. Instead, he advocated for an economic census, believing it would be more beneficial. Dr. Sanjeev, known for his critical stance, made it clear that he does not have any personal grievances against Nitish Kumar. However, he doesn’t favor anyone else within the JDU after Kumar.
Dr. Sanjeev emphasized that a strong voice needs a strong character. He claims he speaks with conviction because he knows he is right, and he is accustomed to speaking the truth, regardless of the consequences. This has brought him various challenges.
He mentioned that some within his own party create disputes. He clarified that he has no issues with Nitish Kumar. He shared that Nitish Kumar was close to his father and supported his entry into politics. Some individuals in the party are seemingly unhappy with his efforts in his constituency, as he frequently raises issues there.
Dr. Sanjeev also discussed the issues faced by farmers in Bihar, emphasizing that these issues affect all castes. He pointed out that many farmers haven’t received receipts for nine years and are therefore unable to claim compensation for damaged crops or benefits from schemes like the PM Awas Yojana. He has been raising these concerns since 2021, and he met with the Governor to seek a resolution.
He questioned the government’s timing of releasing funds, stating that the recent distribution of money to laborers for Durga Puja should have happened earlier. He also criticized the flood management in the state, stating that no audits are conducted despite large sums of money being spent. He believes that connecting rivers could alleviate the issue, but this is not being done because it would prevent the wastage of public funds.
Dr. Sanjeev criticized the caste census, asking about its objectives. He believes the census has no real value and advocates for an economic census instead. He expressed his opposition to the caste census and does not plan to retire from politics. He criticized the lack of tangible results from the census and questioned the impact on people’s lives, particularly in terms of employment and living standards. He suggested that Bihar has become a labor-exporting state.
