In a significant move towards the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced its first list of 71 candidates. The elections, covering all 243 constituencies in Bihar, are scheduled for November 6 and November 11, with results to be declared on November 14. This announcement signals the BJP’s strategic groundwork for securing a strong position in the state legislature.
The upcoming polls promise a high-octane political showdown. The NDA, comprising prominent parties including the BJP, is poised to compete against the Mahagathbandhan. This alliance is led by Tejashwi Yadav of the RJD and includes partners like the Congress, CPI (ML), CPI, CPM, and the VIP. Adding a novel element to this electoral landscape is the participation of Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj party, which could significantly impact voter choices.
The BJP’s initial candidate selection features prominent leaders. Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary will seek election from Tarapur, and his counterpart, Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha, is set to contest from Lakhisarai. State Minister Nitin Nabin will represent the party in Bankipur, and Renu Devi is nominated for Bettiah. The list also includes Gayatri Devi (Parihar), Neeraj Kumar Singh Bablu (Chhatapur), Tarkishore Prasad (Katihar), Mangal Pandey (Siwan), and Kundan Kumar (Begusarai), among others.
Earlier, the NDA coalition finalized its seat allocation for the Bihar elections. The BJP and JDU will each vie for 101 seats. The LJP (Ram Vilas) has secured 29 seats, while the RLM and HAM will contest six seats apiece. This distribution aims to optimize the alliance’s chances across the state’s diverse constituencies.
