Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has accused the central government of targeting 55 lakh poor Punjabis by attempting to halt their free ration under the National Food Security Act (NFSA). He stated that 23 lakh people already had their ration stopped in July due to non-compliance with KYC requirements, and 32 lakh more are threatened with the same after September 30th. Mann criticized the BJP-led central government’s decision, claiming it is using technicalities to deny essential food supplies to the vulnerable population. He shared a post on social media expressing his concerns and emphasizing his commitment to protect the rights of the people. He highlighted that the government plans to cut off ration by citing technical reasons. Mann asserted that the central government, which claims to champion the poor, is now cutting off rations using technical excuses. He stated that there was no on-ground support, time, or awareness campaigns. Mann believes that the government’s actions seem deliberate and that the ration of the poor is not just a scheme but a constitutional and moral right.
