Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, a well-known figure in Bengaluru’s business community, has voiced strong dissatisfaction with an in-flight meal provided by IndiGo. In a viral post, she described the ‘gourmet’ offering for IndiGoStretch passengers as “tasteless” and unappealing, even sharing a photograph of the dish.
“I prefer their regular items!” Mazumdar-Shaw declared, advising IndiGo and its catering provider, Oberoi, to reconsider the menu. She strongly recommended implementing customer surveys, predicting, “I bet you there will be a 100%” negative response to the current selection. The menu listed options such as a lentil and feta salad and a tres leches cake, which did not impress the entrepreneur.
Her critique has resonated with many travelers who have also lamented the quality of airline catering. Online discussions quickly filled with shared grievances, with users highlighting the gap between the promise of ‘gourmet’ dining and the reality. Suggestions ranged from prioritizing customer feedback to offering simpler, more satisfying meal choices, with Mazumdar-Shaw herself mentioning her preference for ‘upma or noodles or even sandwiches’ as superior alternatives to the expensive-sounding but disappointing fare.
