Arvind Kejriwal, the national convener of the Aam Aadmi Party, held a meeting with party members, discussing the alleged persecution of AAP leaders, the impact of US tariffs, and the current state of governance in Delhi. He strongly condemned the BJP, asserting his willingness to make any sacrifice for the nation but not compromise for political power or personal gains.
Kejriwal highlighted the 50% tariffs imposed by President Trump, criticizing Prime Minister Modi for seemingly yielding to Trump’s demands. He claimed this act has put the entire country at risk. He further alleged an unholy alliance between the Congress and BJP, pointing out the selective prosecution of AAP leaders with fabricated cases, contrasting it with the absence of any action against the Gandhi family in the National Herald case.
He addressed the ED raid on Saurabh Bhardwaj’s residence, detailing the agency’s investigation and the pressure to alter Bhardwaj’s statement. Kejriwal emphasized Bhardwaj’s resistance and willingness to face imprisonment, demonstrating the party’s resolve. He viewed these actions as a common tactic in politics to suppress opponents.
Kejriwal then turned his attention to the alleged alliance between Congress and BJP. He discussed instances of political maneuvering and compromised decisions, emphasizing that the public is not fooled by such strategies. He cited specific examples and interviews that pointed to collusion between the BJP and Congress, questioning why AAP leaders were targeted while the Gandhi family evaded any legal repercussions.
Kejriwal said his primary goal is to serve the nation, not to compromise for political gains. He vowed to make any sacrifice for the country but never compromise for power, the party, or family.
He criticized the BJP’s governance in Delhi, describing the chaos created in the last six months, causing the people to miss the AAP government. He pointed to the increase in power cuts, the rise in private school fees, the poor state of the roads, and the disrupted water supply, all of which have caused great hardship to the people. He predicted that the BJP will be removed from power in the next election.
Kejriwal also addressed the issue of US tariffs, stating that Trump imposed a 50% tariff on India which has resulted in the closure of many companies, leading to massive job losses. He contrasted this with how Canada and the European Union retaliated and forced Trump to back down. He expressed concerns about Modi’s response, noting his decision to remove the 11% import duty on cotton, which would indicate a weak response to Trump’s pressure. He concluded that these actions by Modi would be remembered as a national disgrace.
