In the wake of a devastating blast near Delhi’s Red Fort Metro Station, Al-Falah University in Faridabad, Haryana, is now facing legal repercussions. The Delhi Police have filed two separate FIRs against the institution. The first FIR concerns allegations of cheating, while the second targets claims of false accreditation made by the university. Delhi’s Crime Branch confirmed the registration of these FIRs, with one relating to cheating and the other involving forgery. Investigators visited the university’s Okhla premises and issued a formal notice, demanding specific documents. This development stems from an ongoing investigation into serious irregularities identified by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). Notably, the NAAC issued a show-cause notice accusing Al-Falah University of falsely advertising accreditation on its website, a claim the NAAC states is untrue as the university has neither sought nor received accreditation. The university, established by state legislation, has come under intense scrutiny following the apprehension of three doctors connected to the “white-collar terror module” and the recent bombing. Authorities are probing its potential role as a haven for individuals involved in illicit activities. Al-Falah University, originally an engineering college, was accredited with an ‘A’ grade by NAAC in 2013 and later granted university status in 2014.
