The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has declared a nationwide protest against the Waqf Act, with the aim of raising awareness. Public gatherings, meetings, and social media campaigns will be used to inform people about the law. On September 19th, special sermons will be delivered in mosques during Juma prayers, focusing on the importance of Waqf and the implications of the recent Waqf Amendment Act. Prayers will be offered for the preservation of Waqf properties. A demonstration is planned for October 11th at Delhi’s Jantar-Mantar, to be followed by arrests.
Muslims are urged to close their businesses and offices from 8 am to 2 pm on October 3rd, except for medical stores. A large protest rally will take place on November 16th at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi, aiming for massive participation. Prominent figures, political leaders, civil society members, and minority leaders will be invited to address the rally. Pamphlets will be produced in multiple languages (Hindi, English, Urdu, and regional languages) stating opposition to the Waqf Amendment Act. Press conferences will be held in Delhi and state capitals, involving board members, minority representatives, and civil society. Round table discussions will be organized in major cities across the states, including non-Muslims, political leaders, civil society figures, and minority representatives.
Joint sessions will be held with religious leaders from various faiths to address the protection of Waqf properties and institutions. A social media campaign will feature weekly video clips on Facebook, Instagram, and Telegram, with speeches by board leaders and regional coordinators. Efforts will be made to share video clips in multiple regional languages. Marches will be organized in Delhi and state capitals, covering 3-5 kilometers, with participants carrying placards and banners. The marches will be peaceful, with pre-approved slogans, and will conclude with the submission of memorandums to the President and Governors. The date of the march will be decided after the Supreme Court’s interim decision.
A delegation of board officials will meet with Chief Ministers on October 16th to present a memorandum. The board chairman will send a letter to all Waqf trustees and state board presidents, which will be distributed by board members. A campaign for the improvement of Waqf properties will run from November 1st to 8th. The board’s state units will form teams of youth and lawyers in each city to assist trustees with document verification and provide expert guidance. Training workshops will be conducted at the central and state levels to equip lawyers and volunteers with the necessary skills.
