In a significant step forward for India’s defense capabilities, the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) has announced an Expression of Interest (EOI) for the development of the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA). This move is aimed at identifying Indian companies capable of contributing to the design, prototype building, flight testing, and certification of this fifth-generation fighter jet. The ADA is seeking applications from single companies, joint ventures, or consortia that adhere to all relevant Indian laws and regulations. Companies with a strong track record in the aerospace and defense sectors, along with the capacity to handle AMCA’s design and possess expertise in various areas, including manufacturing, testing, and customer support, are encouraged to apply. The selected entity will also be responsible for setting up a manufacturing facility for mass production. The complete project, encompassing development, testing, and certification, is planned to be completed within an eight-year timeframe. The AMCA program gained further momentum in May with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s approval of the program’s execution model, aimed at bolstering India’s indigenous defense and aerospace sectors.
