Kerala’s Union Minister Suresh Gopi has formally offered to resign from his government post, attributing his decision to a drastic reduction in his personal income. The popular film star, who is also a Member of Parliament, disclosed during a political event that his acting career has been completely sidelined, leading to a halt in his primary source of earnings. Gopi, serving as Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas and Tourism, expressed a fervent wish to return to the silver screen, stating, ‘I really want to continue acting. I need to earn more; my income has now stopped completely.’ He stressed that his financial needs are the driving force behind this contemplation of stepping away from his ministerial duties. As a potential replacement, Gopi proposed the name of C Sadanandan Master, a respected BJP figure and a newly elected Rajya Sabha member from Kerala. Gopi articulated his belief that appointing Master would be a significant step for the state’s political representation. This move by Gopi brings into focus the delicate balance many public figures strike between their pre-political careers and their commitment to public service.
