AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj has launched a scathing attack on the BJP government in Delhi, claiming it is distributing ‘prasads’ of misery across society. Bharadwaj highlighted several issues, including a 10.5% PPAC hike, the failure to address pension charges on electricity bills, and extensive power cuts, as evidence of the BJP’s alleged failures. Bharadwaj asserted that the BJP, within four months of forming the government, has initiated actions causing hardship to all segments of Delhi’s population. He criticized fee increases for the middle class, demolition drives targeting jhuggi dwellers, and soaring electricity bills. At a press conference, Bharadwaj referenced a July 2024 video where BJP leaders strongly criticized the then Delhi government for an 8% PPAC increase, branding it as corruption. Comparing the past with the present, Bharadwaj questioned the BJP’s justification for the current 10.5% hike. He also brought up the issue of pension charges in electricity bills, pointing out that Virendra Sachdeva, a BJP leader, had previously argued against these charges. Bharadwaj pointed out that despite the BJP being in power, these charges have not been removed. The AAP leader cited instances of prolonged power cuts, including a 14-hour blackout in Chhatarpur, and noted that even affluent areas are facing similar problems, forcing residents to rely on inverters. He emphasized that the BJP government has allegedly made electricity unaffordable, facilitated extended power outages, and continues to collect unjust pension charges.
