Authorities have arrested three men accused of the brutal gang rape of a college student near Coimbatore International Airport. The incident, which took place late Sunday night, has sent shockwaves through the region. The victim, reportedly conversing with her friend in a parked car, was approached by the assailants who allegedly attacked her companion before abducting her.
Following the assault, the victim was found abandoned and severely traumatized in a vacant plot near the airport. She was promptly taken to a hospital for medical care. The Coimbatore City Police successfully apprehended the suspects, Guna, Karuppasamy, and Karthik alias Kaleeswaran.
During their attempted escape in Vellakinaru, police were compelled to fire upon the accused, striking them in the legs. The operation also resulted in an injury to a head constable. The injured suspects and the constable are receiving treatment at a Coimbatore hospital. The Peelamedu police have registered a case, and further investigations are underway to uncover all details of this disturbing event.
