Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first against India at Junction Oval in Melbourne. Sri Lanka managed to get 113 runs in their 20 overs with Radha Yadav getting four wickets for India. In the run-chase, Shafali continued to slam the bowlers as she got 47 runs off 34 balls as India chased down the total with 32 balls to spare. India became the first side to sail through to the knockout stages after securing wins against hosts and defending champions Australia, as well as Bangladesh and New Zealand, in the first week of the tournament.

12:12 hrs: India have defeated Sri Lanka by 7 wickets to top Group A. Deepti Sharma slammed a four as India won the match with 32 balls still to spare.

12:09 hrs: India are near the finish line as they need only 5 runs to win.

11:59 hrs: India now need just 23 runs to win. Shafali lost her wicket in a run out. Jemimah hits the ball to mid-on and they try for a single but the fielder throws the ball towards the keeper’s end as Shafali fails to make it.

11:52 hrs: WICKET! Harmanpreet fails to make big on her good start as she departs after scoring runs.

11:45 hrs: In a matter of few overs, Shafali and Harmanpreet have made an Indian victory imminent. India need only 43 runs off 71 balls with 9 wickets remaining. Shafali is having a great T20 World Cup.

11:35 hrs: Mandhana’s wicket has no effect on Shafali Verma as she continues her assault on Siriwardene. She smashes 15 runs in the 6th over.

11:30 hrs:Mandhana departs after scoring 17 runs. She tried to go for a big heave over long-on but mistimed it badly. The ball went straight into the hands of Kavisha Dilhari at mid-on.

11:23 hrs: Shafali and Mandhana are taking Sri Lankan bowling apart.
