India first priority, I hope IPL will be held in 2020: GangulyJuly 8, 2020
Indian cricket board (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly ( Sourav Ganguly ) the “first priority” is an Indian Premier League (IPL) in India and hopes that by 2020, despite concerns incidence of corona virus The breathtaking T20 league will take place.
The highly popular T20 League IPL was to be held from 29 March but was postponed indefinitely due to Corona virus epidemic. The former Indian captain said that it is important for cricket to return to normalcy and any decision on IPL will be taken after the International Cricket Council (ICC) decides on the future of the T20 World Cup. The World Cup is to be held in Australia in October-November.
Ganguly told a TV channel, ‘We do not want 2020 to end without IPL. Our first priority is India and if we get 35 to 40 days, we will host it. But we do not know where …
New Zealand, Sri Lanka and the UAE have offered to host the tournament if there is any problem in organizing the tournament in India in view of increasing cases of Corona virus. League of choice is abroad but it will increase the expenses.
Ganguly said, ‘I put it in this order. Firstly can we organize IPL in due time as IPL has limited time. ‘
He said, ‘If it does not happen in India due to Kovid-19, then Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai, where there are big teams of IPL, at this time you cannot say that cricket will happen in these places. ‘
Ganguly said, ‘We are excited about going to Ahmedabad. The stadium there is magnificent. I don’t know if we can go there or not. It will not be easy to say right now that we are going to organize this in India.
In 2009, the IPL was held in South Africa as its dates clashed with the general elections in the country. This is the only occasion in the 12-year history of the IPL when the entire tournament was held outside India. The BCCI chief, however, hoped that the game would return soon.
He said, ‘Look, I want to organize this, as I said, cricket needs to come back. For us this is the empty session which has actually taken place. We finished our season in March after which the IPL was to start.
Ganguly said, ‘And we had to postpone the IPL which is the most important part of our domestic season. We want to organize IPL. But it is necessary to normalize life. A normal return to cricket is possible.
