Akshay Kumar, who is known for his consistency in the film industry, once had to leave a project mid-way. This decision, made about two decades ago, involved the film ‘Barsaat.’ Akshay had begun shooting the film, even filming a song. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, he withdrew, paving the way for Bobby Deol’s entry.
‘Barsaat,’ released in 2005, was originally planned with Akshay Kumar and Priyanka Chopra in the lead roles. The pair had been successful in previous films and were a popular on-screen couple. However, Akshay was compelled to leave the project, reportedly giving the director an ultimatum to either replace Priyanka or he would quit the film.
The core issue was the alleged closeness between Akshay Kumar and Priyanka Chopra, which created significant speculation and controversy at the time. These rumors reportedly caused a rift in Akshay’s personal life, with his wife, Twinkle Khanna, allegedly leaving their home due to the situation.
This personal turmoil impacted Akshay’s professional commitments. Director Sunil Darshan confirmed that the title track had been filmed with Akshay and Priyanka. When the director refused to replace Priyanka, Akshay decided to step away from the film, prioritizing his personal life.
Following Akshay Kumar’s exit, Bobby Deol was brought in to replace him in ‘Barsaat.’ The makers had to reshoot the song with Bobby and Priyanka. Despite being relatively new to the industry, Priyanka impressed the audience with her performance. Her pairing with Bobby was also well-received. The film, which had a budget of 10 crore, grossed 20 crore, and was appreciated by the audience.
