Netflix will be premiering Vir Das’s new stand-up special, titled ‘Vir Das: Fool Volume,’ on July 18th. This special represents a deeply personal project for the comedian, who has collaborated with Netflix seven times. Das explained that the creation of the special was unplanned. He had to rewrite the show entirely after losing his voice just two months before the initial performance date. The show was crafted in silence and performed globally without rehearsals. This unusual process led Das to reflect on the power of the inner voice and the challenges of sharing happiness. The special probes into the complexities of truly utilizing one’s voice.
Das’s earlier work, ‘Vir Das: Landing,’ earned him an International Emmy Award in 2022. He is also poised to make history as the first Indian host of the International Emmy Awards in 2024. Das has an extensive acting portfolio, including roles in popular Bollywood films such as Delhi Belly and Go Goa Gone. Additionally, he is venturing into writing with his forthcoming memoir, The Outsider: A Memoir For Misfits, slated for a November 2025 release. His current engagement involves a world tour, the Mind Fool tour, spanning 33 countries.
