Legendary Bollywood actor Dharmendra, fondly known as the “He-Man” of Indian cinema, has passed away at the age of 89. He died on November 24, 2025, at his residence in Mumbai. The family has yet to release an official statement regarding the cause of his passing, though it is understood he had been experiencing fluctuating health in recent weeks. His death comes as a shock, just prior to his 90th birthday celebration in December.
Dharmendra’s health had been a subject of public concern earlier in November. He was hospitalized at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on November 13 due to a decline in his health. This led to a flurry of visits from industry colleagues and family members, including Sunny Deol, Hema Malini, Salman Khan, and Shah Rukh Khan. At the time, his family had reassured the public that he was stable and under medical care, requesting privacy. This followed an October 31 hospitalization that was publicly downplayed as a routine medical examination.
Shortly after his November hospitalization, misinformation regarding his death spread rapidly on social media, causing considerable anxiety among his vast fan base. Esha Deol promptly debunked these false reports, confirming her father’s stable condition and recovery. She strongly criticized the spread of unverified news and the excessive media attention, stating her father was recovering and requesting respect for their family’s privacy.
Hema Malini also took to social media to update fans, explaining that Dharmendra was at Breach Candy Hospital for observation and continuous monitoring. She expressed gratitude for the public’s concern and shared a photograph of Dharmendra in good spirits, symbolizing hope for his recovery. Paparazzi footage showed Bobby Deol visiting his father at the hospital.
Dharmendra was discharged from Breach Candy Hospital on November 12, 2025. Medical professionals stated he left the facility in good spirits and was set to continue his recovery at home with ongoing medical supervision. Close family sources confirmed he would be treated at home under a doctor’s care.
A private video capturing a poignant moment with Dharmendra on his hospital bed, accompanied by his sons, grandsons, and first wife, Prakash Kaur, was leaked online, igniting anger over the breach of his privacy. This incident reportedly distressed Sunny Deol, who was later seen confronting paparazzi.
Dharmendra’s most recent film was ‘Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya.’ His upcoming project, ‘Ikkis,’ a war drama, is scheduled for release on December 25.
