The upcoming film ‘Coolie,’ starring Superstar Rajinikanth and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, is one of the most eagerly awaited films of 2025. The release is set to clash with Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR’s ‘War 2’ across India. Fans can anticipate the commencement of advance bookings for ‘Coolie’ on August 8, with plans for early morning screenings.
The significant popularity of Rajinikanth has prompted many theaters to schedule early morning showings of ‘Coolie.’ Showtimes will begin at 6 AM in Kerala and Karnataka, and at 9 AM in Tamil Nadu. Notably, early shows won’t be available in Tamil Nadu due to the cancellation of FDFS (First Day First-Show) screenings by the government in 2023, following a fan’s death.
‘Coolie’ boasts a cast including Soubin Shahir, Upendra, Sathyaraj, Shruti Haasan, Rachita Ram, Reba Monica John, Junior MGR, Kanna Ravi, Monisha Blessy, and Kaali Venkat. Aamir Khan is slated to make a cameo appearance. The film is produced by Kalanithi Maran through Sun Pictures.
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has granted ‘Coolie’ an ‘A’ certificate, indicating the film’s violent content. This rating contrasts with Lokesh’s earlier films, ‘Leo’ and ‘Vikram,’ which received ‘U/A’ certificates.
The storyline centers on Deva, a former gold smuggler now working as a coolie, who seeks to regain his past status by reassembling his old gang, using stolen technology hidden within vintage golden watches, leading to unforeseen outcomes.
Rajinikanth’s recent project was ‘Vettaiyan,’ in which he starred alongside Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, Dushara Vijayan, Rohini, Rao Ramesh, Abhirami, and Ramesh Thilak.
