Aryan Khan’s foray into directing with ‘The Ba***ds of Bollywood’ has not only sparked discussions about the film industry but also introduced a new face to the spotlight. The Netflix series features a character, an officer from the Narcotics Control Cell (NCC), whose striking resemblance to former NCB officer Sameer Wankhede has become a major talking point. Audiences are buzzing about the actor, Ashish Kumar, and his uncanny likeness to Wankhede.
Kumar, who plays the pivotal role of the NCC officer, has seen a significant boost in his online presence. After joining Instagram shortly before the show’s release, he has been inundated with fan appreciation. He humbly responded to praise for his performance by stating, ‘I just did my job.’
The series itself has faced legal challenges, with Sameer Wankhede filing a defamation suit against Shah Rukh Khan, Red Chillies Entertainment, and Netflix. Despite the show’s creators not making an official statement, viewers have widely connected the on-screen character to Wankhede. The viral scene depicts the officer arriving at a party, exclaiming ‘Satyamev Jayate,’ a phrase Wankhede famously used. The character’s dialogue, including strong anti-drug sentiments, is seen by many as a direct, albeit unofficial, portrayal or commentary on Wankhede’s controversial tenure.
