In response to sexually inappropriate and unprofessional remarks made by Ram Kapoor during a promotional event for the web series ‘Mistry,’ JioCinema has taken action and removed the actor from all associated promotional activities. The incident occurred at a press event at JW Marriott, Juhu, where Kapoor allegedly made a series of inappropriate comments in the presence of co-star Mona Singh and senior JioHotstar executives. One comment that has drawn significant criticism involved Kapoor’s comparison of media pressure to being “gang-raped,” a remark made, according to reports, in the presence of a female journalist. Kapoor has since admitted to making the comments, stating, “I have said it. So yes, I am guilty as charged.” He explained his actions stem from his natural, “bindass” personality, while also acknowledging that his words caused offense. He added he was unaware of causing any discomfort, indicating he believed everyone was enjoying themselves at the time. The actor also addressed his comment regarding a female’s dress, explaining that he also asked several men in his line of sight to relocate before making the remark. Kapoor views this as the biggest controversy of his career and hopes for understanding. He recognized the need to change his behavior, realizing that his words might be hurtful to others, particularly younger individuals. He accepts and respects the platform’s decision and plans to personally apologize to those who were offended. The Hindi adaptation of ‘Monk,’ ‘Mistry,’ directed by Risab Seth, is set to launch on JioHotstar on June 27. The cast includes Ram Kapoor, Mona Singh, Shikha Talsania, Kshitish Date, and Dipak Dhar.
