The trailer of ‘Sardaar Ji 3’ has ignited a wave of criticism online due to the inclusion of Pakistani actress Hania Aamir. Diljit Dosanjh announced the film’s overseas release on Instagram. This controversy emerges amidst heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, following the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor.
Online users have heavily criticized Diljit and the film’s creators for casting Hania Aamir and deciding to release the movie despite the existing geopolitical issues. One Reddit user commented, “Never spoke a word during the war…now we know why…I liked him but the opinion is now changing highly.” Another netizen wrote, “You can’t expect anything better from Diljit. He has always been very clear about his ideologies.” One Reddit user wrote, “Disgusted by him. What a shameless person he is.”
It is important to note that the movie, ‘Sardaar Ji 3’, was reportedly filmed prior to the Pahalgam attack. It is not currently scheduled for release in India and will only be released in international markets.
Hania Aamir previously faced scrutiny after a fake post containing her purported statements on the Pahalgam attack circulated on social media. She subsequently clarified the situation, saying, “Recently, a statement has been falsely attributed to me and is being widely circulated on social media. I want to address this directly: I did not make this statement, and I do not endorse or align with the words being linked to me. It is entirely fabricated and misrepresents who I am and what I believe.”
She continued, “That being said, this is a deeply sensitive and emotional time. My heart goes out to the innocent lives lost and the families affected by the recent tragedy. Pain like this is real, and it deserves empathy, not politicisation. In times like these, it’s easy to let emotions cloud our judgment, but we must remember: the actions of extremists do not represent an entire nation or its people. Assigning blame without proof only deepens divides and distracts from the real need for compassion, justice, and healing.”
The film also stars Sonam Bajwa, with Manav Vij, Gulshan Grover, Jasmin Bajwa, and Sapna Pabbi playing supporting roles.
