The upcoming Ranveer Singh starrer, ‘Dhurandhar,’ a spy-action thriller from director Aditya Dhar, has encountered a significant legal obstacle. The parents of the late Major Mohit Sharma have approached the Delhi High Court, requesting a stay on the film’s release and urging a review of its content by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
Arguments presented in court highlighted that the film appears to portray real-life personalities without obtaining the necessary permissions. The legal counsel for the petitioners emphasized that the teaser specifically showcases the late Major Mohit Sharma, and other characters are also based on actual individuals, with the protagonist’s story heavily influenced by the decorated officer.
In response to the petition, the High Court has instructed the CBFC to give due consideration to all objections raised by Major Mohit Sharma’s parents. The court further stipulated that if the film touches upon army-related matters, the opinion of competent army authorities, including ADGPI, must be sought and forwarded to the CBFC for their assessment.
This intervention by the court effectively pauses the certification process. The legal team representing the family stated that the primary objection centers on the unauthorized use of real-life figures in the narrative. They confirmed that all relevant responses have been submitted to the court, and the CBFC’s review is now the critical next step before any certification is issued.
