The much-anticipated spy-action film ‘Dhurandhar,’ featuring Ranveer Singh in the lead, has been brought before the Delhi High Court due to objections from the parents of late Major Mohit Sharma. The family has filed a petition seeking a stay on the film, citing concerns over the unauthorized depiction of real individuals.
In response to the petition, the Delhi High Court has directed the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to meticulously examine the grievances presented by Major Mohit Sharma’s parents. The court emphasized that the CBFC must consider these points before proceeding with the film’s certification.
Advocates representing the Sharma family pointed out that the film’s teaser has already revealed the portrayal of the late Major. They further elaborated that other significant characters, such as ‘SAA,’ are also based on real-life figures, with the narrative seemingly centering around Major Mohit Sharma’s life. This alleged lack of consent for using their likeness is the core of the legal challenge.
‘Dhurandhar’ is an ambitious project helmed by Aditya Dhar, who also co-produced it under Jio Studios and B62 Studios. The ensemble cast includes notable actors like Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal. The film’s certification process is currently paused as the CBFC addresses the legal review ordered by the High Court.
