A dispute has emerged in North India concerning the distribution of screen space for ‘Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1’. The film’s North Indian distributor is said to have sent an email to exhibitors and distributors, requesting an extensive allocation of theaters and showtimes, effectively creating a near-monopoly.
A manager from a significant multiplex chain, who preferred to remain unnamed, voiced their concerns about the situation. The manager stated that the email from ‘Kantara’s’ distributors essentially requested that all showings be dedicated to ‘Kantara’, sidelining Karan Johar’s upcoming film, ‘Sunny Sankari Ki Tulsi Kumari’. This approach is viewed as potentially violating fair trade practices.
Movie theaters are considering their options. It is understood that producer Karan Johar intends to engage in negotiations with the ‘Kantara’ team over the weekend. The multiplex manager revealed that if the ‘Kantara’ team’s demands for screen dominance persist, they might be compelled to remove ‘Sunny Sankari’ from their schedules.
