Aamir Khan’s latest film, Sitaare Zameen Par, is now playing in cinemas. The film centers on the lives of specially-abled children, with Aamir Khan playing a basketball coach. Directed by RS Prasanna, the cast includes Genelia D’Souza and ten newcomers portraying specially-abled characters. The film is adapted from the Spanish film Campeones.
Early reactions to the film have been positive, even though advance bookings were not exceptionally high. The film is predicted to collect approximately Rs 9–10 crore on its first day, with the possibility of exceeding Rs 10 crore due to evening and night shows.
Industry experts are optimistic about a strong weekend performance, projecting a potential collection of Rs 40–45 crore in its first three days if the positive momentum continues.
Furthermore, it is known that Aamir Khan turned down a significant offer of Rs 120 crore from Amazon Prime Video for the film’s OTT rights. The theatrical performance of Sitaare Zameen Par is critical, and failure to perform well in cinemas may result in significant financial repercussions for Aamir Khan.
Khan’s previous film, Laal Singh Chaddha, had a lifetime collection of Rs 58.73 crore.
