The romantic thriller ‘The Lady Killer,’ starring Arjun Kapoor and Bhumi Pednekar and directed by Ajay Bahl, is now accessible on T-Series’ YouTube channel following its unsuccessful theatrical release. The film was launched digitally with minimal fanfare. The film’s debut was on Tuesday morning, preceded by a countdown, and with no accompanying promotional activities. Despite having a notable cast, the film apparently faced difficulties in securing an OTT platform. On its opening day, the film earned only Rs 38,000, selling a meager 293 tickets across India, positioning it among the poorest box office performers in Indian cinematic history. The film was reportedly finished with incomplete components due to financial problems, inclement weather in Uttarakhand, and a lack of reshoots. To finish the movie, the team depended on editing choices and voiceovers. Initially, the film was scheduled to stream on Netflix, however, that plan was scrapped. Instead, the movie was released for free on T-Series’ YouTube channel. Director Ajay Bahl revealed that the film was not completed, with 30 pages of the 117-page screenplay remaining unfilmed. Key elements, like the romantic development between Arjun and Bhumi, Bhumi’s reliance on alcohol, and Arjun’s feelings of entrapment and despair, were missing. Bahl emphasized that the problems were not the result of the actors’ performances, highlighting Arjun and Bhumi’s commitment to the project.
