Director Anurag Kashyap has voiced his strong disapproval of an AI-generated film about Lord Hanuman, ‘Chiranjivi Hanuman – The Eternal.’ This film, a joint venture by Abundantia Entertainment and Collective Media Network’s HistoryVerse, has sparked controversy, especially from Kashyap, who is known for his unfiltered opinions. He took to Instagram to share his views, specifically targeting the film’s producer, Vijay Subramaniam. Kashyap’s post criticized the AI-generated movie, which is also claimed to be India’s first major ‘Made in AI Made in India’ film, aiming for release on Hanuman Jayanti in 2026. Kashyap started his post by sarcastically congratulating Subramaniam, who leads the Collective Artists Network, an organization meant to represent artists, writers, and directors. Kashyap expressed his frustration, stating that these agencies are solely driven by profit and resort to AI because they cannot earn enough from their artists. He called upon artists to either challenge this practice or leave the agencies, as it reveals a disregard for their work. Kashyap ended his post with a scathing assessment of the Hindi film industry, saying the AI approach is a bleak future for the artists.
