The romantic comedy ‘UnIndian,’ starring Tannishtha Chatterjee and Brett Lee, features intimate scenes that drew attention. The film’s love-making scene was trimmed down at the request of the Censor Board of Film Certification (CBFC), which also asked for the deletion of a butt shot of Brett Lee. The director eventually removed the scene entirely. Chatterjee recalls Lee as a professional with a great sense of humor. She expresses positive experiences working with the entire team. They collaborated on a Bollywood song, which she clarifies was not a typical routine but involved some dancing. The actress, who has worked with Jude Law and Keira Knightley, enjoyed shooting with Lee, praising his understanding of and love for Bollywood. For Chatterjee, who has often played rustic characters, ‘UnIndian’ represented a shift, allowing her to portray an urban central character. The director, Anupam Sharma, had advised the actors to spend time together before filming. The film explores a single divorcee’s journey of rediscovering love. The intimate moments between Chatterjee and Lee are compared to those in Mira Nair’s Mississippi Masala. Chatterjee has previously appeared in international films like Brick Lane and Bhopal: A Prayer For Rain, as well as the Hollywood film Anna Karenina. The film is an example of a cross-cultural rom-com, produced in Australia.
