The upcoming film ‘Ikkis,’ marking Agastya Nanda’s acting debut, is generating significant excitement, especially following its trailer launch. Central to the narrative is Simar Bhatia, a fresh face stepping into the Bollywood spotlight as Agastya’s on-screen love interest. Beyond her role in this highly anticipated movie, Simar has a notable family connection: she is Akshay Kumar’s niece.
Simar Bhatia is the daughter of Alka Bhatia, Akshay Kumar’s sister, and her first husband, Vaibhav Kapoor. Though her mother remarried Surendra Hiranandani, Simar has maintained a relatively private life, focusing on her education abroad, particularly in the United States, where her interest in the arts flourished.
Following the official trailer release, Akshay Kumar shared a touching tribute to Simar on his Instagram Stories. He spoke of his profound pride in watching her journey from home performances to her debut on the grand stage of ‘Ikkis.’ He also extended his best wishes to Agastya and the entire production team.
Simar responded warmly to her uncle’s post, affirming her affectionate bond with him. Twinkle Khanna, Akshay’s wife and a renowned author, also offered words of encouragement, praising Simar’s natural talent and screen presence as ‘refreshingly natural.’ Simar expressed her gratitude, feeling fortunate to receive such high praise.
‘Ikkis’ centers on the inspiring story of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, a distinguished recipient of the Param Vir Chakra, celebrated for his extraordinary courage during the Battle of Basantar. Simar Bhatia’s character will be seen alongside Agastya Nanda’s portrayal of Khetarpal. The ensemble cast includes prominent actors like Dharmendra, Jaideep Ahlawat, Sikandar Kher, and Deepak Dobriyal. The film is scheduled to hit theaters in December 2025.
