Three major films are set to premiere in India this Friday, September 5: the Hollywood horror film “The Conjuring: Last Rites,” the Hindi releases “Baaghi 4” starring Tiger Shroff and Sanjay Dutt, and Vivek Agnihotri’s political drama “The Bengal Files” featuring Mithun Chakraborty. Hollywood productions have enjoyed considerable success at the Indian box office this year. Global hits like Joseph Kosinski’s F1, Gareth Edwards’ Jurassic World Rebirth, and Christopher McQuarrie’s Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning have all achieved over Rs 100 crore in India. The horror film Final Destination: Bloodlines also grossed over Rs 70 crore. Anticipation is high for the upcoming releases, with “The Conjuring: Last Rites,” the concluding chapter of the immensely popular “Conjuring” franchise, already showing strong advance ticket sales. Early numbers suggest the horror film is outperforming the Hindi releases prior to its debut. “The Conjuring: Last Rites” is leading in advance ticket sales across India. The horror film has reportedly sold more than 80,000 tickets at major cinema chains, including PVR, INOX, and Cinepolis. Estimates point to a Rs 15 crore opening on Friday. “Baaghi 4” has recorded Rs 5.21 crore in advance bookings, including Rs 2.43 crore from block bookings. Previous installments of the Tiger Shroff franchise debuted with openings of over Rs 11 crore, Rs 25 crore, and Rs 17 crore respectively. “The Bengal Files” lags behind with advance bookings of just Rs 45 lakh, including over Rs 30 lakh from block bookings. While not a franchise entry, it is the latest in Vivek Agnihotri’s thematic trilogy. The first film, “The Tashkent Files” (2019), earned Rs 36 lakh on its opening day, and “The Kashmir Files” (2022) opened at Rs 3.55 crore, eventually becoming a major success.
