Aamir Khan’s upcoming film, ‘Sitaare Zameen Par,’ the spiritual follow-up to ‘Taare Zameen Par,’ is gearing up for its release. The film explores the lives of children with special needs, with Aamir Khan portraying a basketball coach. Before its release, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) proposed several edits. Initially, Aamir Khan was hesitant to implement these changes, citing the importance of the film’s creative vision. Eventually, the CBFC approved the film.
The suggested changes included replacing the term “Business Woman” with “Business Person,” changing a reference to “Michael Jackson” to “Lovebirds,” removing the word “Kamal” (lotus) from a scene, deleting the original disclaimer, adding a new disclaimer with a voiceover, and including a quote by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the disclaimer.
‘Sitaare Zameen Par,’ directed by RS Prasanna, also features Genelia D’Souza and introduces ten newcomers in roles of specially abled characters. The film is a remake of the Spanish film ‘Campeones’ and is set to release this Friday, June 20. Advance booking numbers are low compared to Aamir’s previous film, ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’.
