Chila, Fara, Chasela, Bada, flavored dishes with health, now the world of women of Chhattisgarh is beginning to smell. The taste of these Chhattisgarhi dishes is bringing sweetness to the lives of Maa Mahamaya Self Help Group women who run an open Aushi canteen in the District Panchayat of Janjgir. Due to the taste of home and having a healthy breakfast, the dishes made by them are now becoming the choice of the people. This has given these women a better source of income.
The chairperson of the group Smt. Lalitha Giri said that the work of running tea-snacks and food canteen in the district panchayat complex was not our place of happiness. Ever since he started work here, he is getting good income. Whatever income is presently, we are putting it in the canteen arrangements. Our effort is to provide the best facilities to the customers. Now it has become our means of employment. In the canteen, along with morning tea, breakfast and in the afternoon, pulses, rice, puri, vegetable bread are available, parcel facilities are also being provided. The group members, including Sunita Yadav and Bhagwati Gautam, were delighted that the canteen was inaugurated on July 3. We women groups have pledged to do menial work together.
The Chief Executive Officer of the District Panchayat, Shri Tirtharaj Agarwal, says that during the time of global epidemic, Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme is becoming a major means of providing employment to the people in the village itself. Under this, work is being done to increase the income of people by linking them to livelihood promotion activities. In this sequence, a livelihood resource center has been created in the district panchayat campus through MNREGA. For this, 4 lakh 31 thousand rupees MNREGA and 5 thousand rupees was approved from 14th Finance. This has opened the way for the empowerment of women as well as MNREGA laborers. In one of the two halls built here, a women’s group has been linked with self-employment through canteen, while stalls of products of various groups will be installed along the lines of Bihan Mart in the adjacent hall of the canteen.
