Bastar : Today was the last day to fill the nomination form for the upcoming three -tier panchayat elections in Chhattisgarh. Meanwhile, Barda, a small village in Bakavand block of Bastar in Chhattisgarh, remains a topic of discussion. Let us tell you that not a single candidate filed nomination in protest for the post of sarpanch and panch, due to which the entire panel was elected unopposed.
How did unopposed victory?
It is being told that the villagers called a meeting before the election, in which people of all caste class attended. In view of the success of former sarpanch Kamal Maurya’s tenure in the meeting, it was unanimously decided that the new leadership should be chosen from his family. Therefore, the villagers decided to make Tilottama Maurya (Kamal Maurya’s sister -in -law) the next sarpanch.
It is worth noting that during the tenure of Kamal Maurya, there were many development works related to roads, water supply, education and agriculture in the village, which created satisfaction and trust in the public. The villagers decided to maintain leadership from the family for this continuity of development.
