Deliberations on Measures for Monitoring, Regulation, and Control of E-Rickshaws and Autos for Smooth and Organized Traffic
Raipur, March 6, 2025/ A virtual meeting, chaired by Transport Secretary cum Commissioner Mr. S. Prakash, was held today at the Ministry with officials from the divisional headquarters of Raipur, Bilaspur, Durg, Ambikapur, and Jagdalpur district administrations on issues related to traffic problems arising from E-Rickshaws and Autos, and their solutions. Additional Transport Commissioner Mr. D. Ravishankar was also present at the meeting.
In view of the continuous increase in the number of E-Rickshaws and Autos, measures to ensure smooth and organized traffic were discussed in the meeting. It was informed in the meeting that the district-wise number of E-Rickshaws (Goods & Passenger) registered in the transport office is as follows: Raipur 13374, Bilaspur 4493, Durg 4038, Ambikapur 1311, Jagdalpur 41. Similarly, the number of registered Autos (Goods & Passenger) is: Raipur 20306, Bilaspur 14867, Durg 9602, Ambikapur 4429, Jagdalpur 3431, and this number is continuously increasing. The problem of controlling them without monitoring and regulation was discussed.
District Administration Raipur Formulated a Zone-Wise Plan
In the meeting, the zone-wise plan created by the Raipur district administration for the smooth and organized operation of E-Rickshaws and Autos was also discussed in detail. The Raipur district administration has primarily divided the Raipur city into 05 zones for the plan.
Discussion on Acts and Rules Prevailing in the Center and States for E-Rickshaws
In the meeting, the acts and rules prevailing in the center and states for E-Rickshaws were also discussed in detail. In addition, the powers conferred upon the state government and district administration were discussed in detail. Information was taken from the officials of the present districts regarding the situations arising due to E-Rickshaws and Autos in their respective districts.
Suggestions Sought for Problem Solving
In the meeting, it was stated that any proposals or suggestions for the continuous increase in the registration of E-Rickshaws and Autos, and for the solution of the problem, should be sent to the State Road Safety Committee or the Transport Department through the District Road Safety Committee or the District Administration.
