Durg. Saumya Tiwari (23 years), niece of RTO sub-inspector, was crushed by an unknown vehicle in Bhilai 3 on Saturday morning. Due to which Soumya died on the spot. The truck driver has fled from the spot after the accident. Old Bhilai police is searching for him.
According to the information received from the police, Soumya was the daughter of Kamlesh Tiwari, a resident of Bazaar Chowk, Bhilai, and the niece of RTO sub-inspector Prabha Tiwari. Every morning Soumya used to go with her mother to the nearby gym center to exercise.
Even on Saturday, she left to go to the gym, but her mother refused to let her go, so she went alone to the gym on foot. She left her house at 5.30 in the morning to go to the gym. She was walking on the service lane next to the highway going from Bhilai to Raipur. As soon as he reached Jalaram Hotel via the service lane from the middle cut in front of Janta School, a speeding truck came from Bhilai towards Raipur. Seeing him uncontrolled, Soumya stood aside.
The truck suddenly descended from the highway into the service lane, crushed Soumya, came back to the four lane and ran away towards Raipur at high speed. The people present nearby made a lot of noise and tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver did not stop the vehicle and ran away from there. People saw that Soumya had died on the spot. After this a call was made to the old Bhilai police.
As soon as the information was received, Old Bhilai Police reached the spot. After this the body was sent to the mortuary in Supela for post-mortem. The police is investigating the case. The body will be handed over to the relatives after post-mortem today. The tire marks found by the police at the incident site indicate that the accident occurred due to a truck or other heavy vehicle.
Got a job in a private company a day ago
SI Prabha Tiwari, posted in RTO, said that Soumya had joined a private company doing traffic awareness related work a day earlier. By joining this company, she would make people aware during Road Safety Month, but the mistake of a careless driver took away Soumya’s life.
Crying and sad condition of family members
After receiving the information, Soumya’s family reached Supela Hospital crying. There is mourning in the entire family. Family members say that more than 7 hours have passed since the incident, but the police have not been able to trace the vehicle that caused the accident. Family members say that this is not an accident but murder. The police should scrutinize the CCTV footage and catch the accused and interrogate him as to why he got down from the main lane and grabbed a girl standing in the service lane and then fled from the main lane.
