Raipur, February 9, 2025/ Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai paid tribute to the tribal leader Amar Shahid Gunda Dhur on the occasion of Bhoomkal Smriti Divas on February 10. He said that the sacrifice of Gunda Dhur, who sounded the bugle of revolution against the British rule for the protection of the rights to water, forest and land, will forever remain immortal in the pages of history.
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that on February 10, 1910, the brave tribals of Bastar blew the bugle of the Bhoomkal rebellion against the injustice and exploitation of the British. In this movement, tribal leaders sacrificed their lives to protect freedom and self-respect. In this struggle, led by Amar Shahid Gunda Dhur, despite limited resources, the warriors of Bastar challenged the oppressive policies of the British government.
Shri Sai said that the Bhoomkal rebellion is a golden chapter of the freedom struggle not only of Chhattisgarh but of the entire country. Chief Minister Shri Sai said that Amar Shahid Gunda Dhur is a symbol of tribal consciousness and self-respect. Their saga of struggle inspires us to remain steadfast against oppression, exploitation and injustice. The Chief Minister pledged on this occasion that the light of self-respect and self-esteem ignited by Gunda Dhur will always remain lit, and Bhoomkal Divas, celebrated in their memory, will continue to give us the strength to fight for social justice.
