Chhattisgarh’s sports development will receive a new dimension: An IOA expert team will visit Chhattisgarh to guide players.
Raipur – Today in New Delhi, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai had a courtesy meeting with Smt. P.T. Usha, President of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and Rajya Sabha Member. This important meeting included extensive discussions on the development of sports in Chhattisgarh, the training of young players, strengthening sports infrastructure, and the state’s preparations for Olympic-level competitions.
Chief Minister Shri Sai reiterated the government’s commitment to giving state sports talents national and international recognition, stating that the Chhattisgarh government is constantly striving for the all-round development of players. He announced that the state government has declared incentive amounts of ₹3 crore for Olympic gold medalists from Chhattisgarh, ₹2 crore for silver medalists, and ₹1 crore for bronze medalists.
IOA’s expert team will provide high-level training to players
During the meeting, Smt. P.T. Usha mentioned sending a special delegation from the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) to guide players in Chhattisgarh. She said this team will include experienced coaches and experts from various sports who will train local players for Olympic-level competitions and help improve their sports techniques. She emphasized that there is no shortage of sports talent in Chhattisgarh, and if they receive the right guidance and resources, they can excel on national and international sports platforms. Smt. Usha praised the Chhattisgarh government’s efforts to promote sports in the state and called it an exemplary model for India’s sports promotion.
Events like the Bastar Olympics and Abujhamara Peace Half Marathon will give new wings to sports talents
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that the state government is successfully conducting special sporting events to increase young people’s interest in sports and to hone hidden talents. He said that the ‘Bastar Olympics’ was recently held, with over 1.65 lakh young people participating. The main objective of this event was to prepare local sports talents for competition at the national and international levels. He stated that the ‘Abujhamara Peace Half Marathon’ will be held on March 2, 2025, with over 5000 young participants. This prestigious marathon will be held in three categories – 21 kilometers, 10 kilometers, and 5 kilometers. Through such events, the government is inspiring youth towards sports and is committed to developing the state as a strong sports hub. This partnership between the Chhattisgarh government and the Indian Olympic Association will give a new dimension to the development of sports in the state.
